Just a little piece of star quality from a Disney Princess!

The London Palladium

Rachel Zegler is a multi talented rising actor; singer and performer. I’ve watched nearly every project she has been in and I’m in awe of her talent. Some of my favourite Zegler moments include her rendition of Eva Perón in Evita, her role as Snow White in the new Snow White (especially her new solos) and as Lucy Gray in The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. That’s without mentioning her breakout role as Maria in West Side Story where she stunned us all! She’s already achieved so much and I can’t wait to see where she goes next. Today I had a pleasure of watching her own concert, back at the Palladium.

Firstly, the atmosphere outside the theatre before the show was buzzing. People chatting about Rachel, showing their posters/taking photos and even some people cosplaying as past Rachel characters (Snow White, Lucy Gray etc). It definitely was a heartwarming moment that showed so many people here are coming to see the show as fans. I also had to buy a souvenir brochure which has lots of information to read, as well as a fun little word search to do! There is also a very cute bag which has all of Zegler’s roles on it which I was very tempted by but ultimately didn’t buy.

In the first act, we get to see some fantastic tributes to Rachel’s previous career, including the Hunger Games, Taylor Swift covers and Evita. She also paid tribute to important parts of her own life, from Disney inspiration to musical theatre legends. Her microphone was most definitely on as we heard beautiful melody and rift. This is shown most prominently in her original song, which hopefully will be released in the future. Though, the stand out moment from Act 1 must be the mashup of ‘Waiting on a Wish’ with a classic musical theatre song. I won’t spoiler which one, but honestly, Rachel needs to release this song as it was beyond brilliant: causing a huge standing ovation!

The second act continues the hype. We hear some of Zegler’s favourite songs from shows and dream roles. She also brings on a special guest from Les Mis royalty, as well as sings another original song (which is fantastic). Surprisingly, one massive song from her history is not sung which was interesting but it is not necessarily bad as we have heard it quite a few times. I throughly enjoyed her mashup and duet with the special guest: it really felt very personal.

It was such an experience seeing Rachel again. I can’t wait to see where she goes next (hopefully back to London for more musical moments). If anyone got the chance to see Zegler too, let me know what you thought!

I was there for the evening performance and she was incredible, her voice is sensational and over such a range of different music including a couple she penned herself which were very good. I agree the Act 1 ending mashup was the best! Hope I get the chance to see her again because she is a generational talent
