The maiden voyage of the iconic Titanic has taken place in this adaptation!
Titanic the Musical is based on the real historic event, retelling stories from the event in musical form. The musical does not follow the classic movie’s storyline but instead focuses on the real stories. The show is an ensemble piece, focusing on a range of storylines which are interwoven. KLPS are a brilliant amateur theatre group in Kings Lynn. After watching their previous musical The Sound of Music, I was very eager to watch them tackle the Titanic.
The set was very well utilised, showing the different scenes in the Titanic really well. This is complemented incredibly well by the lighting, which pulled the whole piece together. Similarly, the costumes were fantastic time pieces for the musical: showing the many different classes which entered the Titanic.
The musical has a range of character, with multiple people tasked with different roles. However, the whole cast were absolutely amazing! The vocals were beautiful to listen to and they were all giving their best throughout the piece. It was great to see so many familiar faces from a variety of amateur dramatic groups, from across the West Norfolk and Cambridgeshire districts come together for a classic show. Each and every individual did a wonderful job and should be incredibly proud.
