Here we are in Pride Month 2026, a time to celebrate everything that makes the LGBTQIA+ community so unique. Theatre has always been a place where people can express themselves freely, tell important stories and see themselves represented on stage. At Rhombus Rota, we’re proud allies of the LGBTQIA+ community and speaking personally as a member of that community, I know how meaningful it can be to see our experiences reflected through live performances. If you’re looking for a great way to celebrate Pride in London this year, these are five shows currently running that I think deserve a spot on your theatre bucket list.
Titaníque

This splash-hit musical retells the classic story of the Titanic through the eyes of Celine Dion. As a long-time ally of the LGBTQIA+ community, Dion’s music provides the perfect soundtrack to a show that embraces camp humour, queer culture, and plenty of larger-than-life moments. As the familiar story unfolds, Titanique finds fresh and hilarious ways to surprise audiences, all while delivering incredible vocals and standout performances. Whether you’re a fan of Celine Dion, musical theatre, or simply looking for a good laugh this Pride Month, this is one show not to miss and with the cast changing early June: it is the perfect time to revisit the ship of dreams!
Avenue Q

Avenue Q is a hilarious and often outrageous musical that uses puppets in a parody of children’s television shows like Sesame Street. While the show is packed with comedy, satire, and songs that will have you laughing throughout, it also explores deeper themes, including LGBTQIA+ representation through the character of Rod. His journey as he comes to terms with his feelings for his roommate is handled with both humour and heart, offering a surprisingly genuine portrayal of the struggles many closeted gay people face. Still holding up today, Avenue Q delivers an important message about self-acceptance and being true to who you are.
Redcliffe

One of London’s newest musicals, Redcliffe has recently opened at Southwark Playhouse and tells the story of William Critchard and Richard Arnold in 18th-century Redcliffe. What begins as a chance encounter soon develops into a forbidden love story as both men learn more about themselves and each other. Written by and starring Jordan Luke Gage, the musical explores queer identity, love, and self-discovery, making it a particularly meaningful watch during Pride Month.
Kinky Boots

Kinky Boots is one of the most uplifting and feel-good musicals around, telling the story of Charlie Price, who unexpectedly inherits his family’s struggling shoe factory. In an attempt to save the business, he teams up with drag performer Lola, leading to an unlikely friendship that changes both of their lives. Packed with catchy songs, humour and an important message about individuality. Lola is iconic and with Johannes Radebe currently playing her, the dancing is phenomenal. Kinky Boots has become a favourite within the LGBTQIA+ community and is a fantastic choice to watch during Pride Month.
If you’re not able to make it to London this Pride Month, there are still plenty of musicals that celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community such as Priscilla Queen of the Desert and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Looking ahead, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is also set to return in 2027, bringing back its uplifting story of confidence, acceptance, and being proud of who you are. Whatever show you choose, theatre remains a wonderful way to celebrate Pride and the stories that make our community so unique.
