A fascinating look into life and the life we may lead.
La Fenêtre is a theatrical piece, exploring the split between who you could be and who you are currently. The story follows Gabriel, a regular modern man who has strong opinions over certain things and works a nondescript job in IT. However, he is not okay and he can not live his life fully due to anxiety, guilt and regret. On one night, everything changes for Gabriel, as he comes to find out who he truly is. To find out more, explore our Q & A with the creative team.
The story is very intriguing and allows for questions throughout with a moral message underlining the production. Nadia Khivrych is the director of this piece with Tej Panesar being the writer of the project. The two have worked effectively together to bring Gabriel’s world to life on stage. Overall it is a compelling story, exploring the use of AI in our society. I wonder if the show could dig deeper into this. It attempts this towards the end but could benefit from more exploration throughout.
The cast is made of two actors, allowing for the intimate and powerful story to be told effectively. Gilles Guillain plays Gabriel, a man whose life is built on routines. Guillain is an engaging actor and takes on the role with confidence. I especially enjoyed his ‘nightmare’ sequences, where the creative choices were unique. Katherine Bristow plays well against Gulliain, being the voice of reason and offering advice. Her speech towards the end was impactful.
La Fenêtre continues to run until 16th August at the Etcetera Theatre. Book your tickets here!
Tickets for this production were provided complimentary. Many thanks to the Molonok Theatre group for organising and we wish you all the best!
