🐊 Sneaky crocs are down by the lake, Will the children be able to take a break? 🐊

The Enormous Crocodile the Musical is based on the 1978 book with the same name, by Roald Dahl. This musical production premiered last year at Leeds Playhouse, being a smash hit with its demographic. The musical has moved to Regent Park Open Air Theatre for a 2025 summer run alongside Brigadoon before going on a 2026 tour. You would think that I would watch Brigadoon but instead, I watched our naughty crocodile try to eat children. As discussed in my Shucked review, Regent Park Open Air Theatre is an amazing venue, which I always enjoy visiting. It is a shame that today’s production was delayed by 15 minutes.

The Enormous Crocodile the Musical follows the greedy crocodile who feels very hungry today… for children! The enormous crocodile ventures out of his home to explore for children. Along the way, other jungle animals realise what the crocodile is doing and decide to be brave and stop him! But will they do it in time?

The puppetry in this show is quite cute and at times, more impressive than I thought it would be. Also the musical score, made by Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab, is really fun and surprisingly good. The children in the theatre loved the show, especially helping to beat the crocodile. The acting is also a very strong point, with great singers too!

The Enormous Crocodile is playing at Regent Park Open Air Theatre until 15th September.
