Sheringham Little Theatre starts their summer season with this operatic mayhem of a production. Based on the beloved Ken Ludwig comedy, the story unfolds in 1934 with the Cleveland Grand Opera Company preparing for the opening night of ‘Pagliacci’. However, nothing goes to plan and the night soon turns into chaos! This production is sure to get audiences laughing all the way home!

The Plandits arrive with this brand new rock n roll musical! The show follows the Big Bad Wolf, who has been exile to the Deep Dark Wood where he plays rock music every night. But what really happened to the other characters such as Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs? After a rocking run last year, this production had to return. Holkham Hall welcomes The Lord Chamberlain’s Men in this production of the Shakespeare classic Othello. The story is a beloved classic, following the themes of deception and jealously. Continuing Sheringham Little Theatre’s summer season, this smash-hit musical arrives early August. The story follows Seymour, an orphan who works for Mr Mushnik and crushes on his co-worker Audrey. When he discovers a rare plant who feeds on blood to grow, he begins to do unspeakable acts to allow the plant to grow. With a phenomenal score from Alan Menken, Little Shop of Horrors has all the makings of a perfect musical and this production is promising to be unforgettable!

This classic Roald Dahl story returns to Norwich on it’s UK tour! Matilda follows a young girl who plans to change her story: even though sometimes she has to be a little bit naughty! With a recent film adaptation, this musical has became loved by adults and kids alike, with a brilliant score and set. It may be a while before Matilda returns to Norfolk so don’t miss this opportunity!

After the brilliant God of Carnage, Westacre Theatre brings this classic Jane Austen’s story to life! The Dashwood Sisters must navigate both societal pressure and love after their father’s death. Westacre is well known for their outdoor summer theatre and with a set of young bursary students involved, this is show will be equally outstanding!

MADS theatre company, promoting inclusivity and diversity in theatre, bring this show about being your authentic self. Based on the classic film Shrek, the musical follows an ogre as he saves a Princess in this unique fairy tale story. The show contains captivating songs such as When Words Fail, I Know It’s Today and Who I’d Be which will be fantastic to watch live!

The Watlington Players return to stage after Fame Jr and Sweeney Todd! The show follows six actresses in 1988 who are striving to reclaim their glory days. To do this, they decide to present a musical revue for their fans. Throughout the 90 minutes, comedy ensues on stage as well as fun and entertaining songs. The Watlington Players have a large group of strong vocalists who will be phenomenal in this production!

After a phenomenal production of Kiss Me, Kate, the East Norfolk Operatic Society return with a mystery! One Gilbert and Sullivan classic will be performed with only three days of rehearsals: a production with high stakes and pressure! However, this company are versatile with their strong performers and we have faith that they can produce a smash hit (though it will be incredibly challenging)! We wish you the best of luck!

Illyria Outdoor Theatre comes to Holkham with Pinocchio. Using puppetry, the story of Pinocchio comes to life, live on the outdoor stage. Get your head in this show, which is set to bring your true wildcat out! Following the Disney Channel Original Movie, we meet Troy who starts to discover his love for performing in a musical. Whilst the score has classics from the movie, there are also new songs added to help uplift the piece! The Pavilion Players Stage School is taking on this production, which is sure to be remarkable for all ages!

One of two productions running simultaneously at the Maddermarket by the same theatre group! The Twits is based on the classic Roald Dahl book and has been adapted by David Wood for the stage. The story follows a revolting couple who attempt to train monkeys for the circus. Bound to bring a bucketful of laughter, this is not one to miss!

Following the success of last year’s show The Wedding Singer, another musical from Echo Youth Theatre was highly anticipated! Footloose follows the story of Ren who moves to Bomont, where dancing is banned. Slowly we uncover the mystery of the restriction and a dancing revolution takes place! The show is full of brilliant songs such as Holding Out For a Hero! and Almost Paradise, this production will get you up on your feet!

The Garage, a theatre we don’t visit often enough at Rhombus Rota, produce a summer show each year: with previous years including Alice in Wonderland and Dracula. This year, they’ve decided to take on the classic of Peter Pan. The story follows the Darling children as they navigate the dangers of Never Land alongside Peter and his Lost Boys. The Garage’s productions always bring high energy to the stage, making them a joy to watch!

Rain or Shine Theatre Company continues their The Pickwick Papers tour into Norfolk’s Mannington Gardens! The story follows a group who embark on a journey outside of London to report on their findings. Having watched previous productions by this company, they are always able to bring wonderful comedy to their performances. After Magic Floor Productions fantastic version of Annie The Musical, they return this summer with Shakespeare! A Midsummer Nights Dream follows a group of lovers who flee into the forest at night. However, they encounter magical creatures who create this chaotic comedy. The show is a classic, being beloved for many years! Don’t miss this magical production!

The final August show at Sheringham Little Theatre leaves comedy for a psychological thriller! Written by Emlyn Williams, the story follows Dan as he arrives at an isolated Essex home. When Olivia suspects Dan’s intentions, she finds herself in peril. Being a different genre of show compared to most of the guide, this sounds fascinating!

Westacre return for a Shakespearean production! Following a set of identical twins who have been separated at birth, a complicated identity crisis starts. This story is one of Shakespeare’s funniest and bubbliest which makes it highly recommended. Another reason to sit in Westacre Theatre’s outdoor space is also a major positive!

Eastern Angles Theatre Company continue to tour into Norfolk this August. This story is also special as it is set in Norfolk in the 1900s. Leo Colston unwillingly becomes a ‘go between’ for two forbidden lovers. Inspired by L.P. Hartley’s classic novel, this production prepares audiences for a summer that is guaranteed to end in disaster. St Georges Theatre is a venue Rhombus Rota has not visited often so this could be the perfect reason to travel to Great Yarmouth!

The Pantaloons Theatre company return with Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night! The Pantaloons are a fantastic group who dedicate time to crafting pieces of theatre which are accessible and smart. This romantic comedy involving twins will be cleverly designed to be enjoyable for the whole family.
