Poet and comedian Scott Manley Hadley is bringing his comedy show to Aces and Eights as part of the Camden Fringe. Part stand-up comedy, part essay writing, Bald Personality Disorder is a unique exploration of hairlessness and mental health issues. The absurdity in this pairing is precisely the kind of humour that can be expected from this show, which worked remarkably well with the audience.
Scott Manley Hadley (AKA Solid Bald) is uniquely charming. While presenting himself as having a mild air of disinterest, he rapidly captures and retains the audience’s attention with his self-deprecating humour and absurd discussions of serious topics. Rather than relying on an exaggerated or energetic stage presence, Scott Manley Hadley allows the material itself to carry the comedy, with his dry but sharp delivery making some of the more absurd moments even funnier.
A particular highlight of the show was the interactive bald quiz, which had everyone in the room participating enthusiastically. This, combined with the non-stop jokes, was effective at keeping the audience engaged and on their toes throughout the performance.
