An intriguing solo, semi-autobiographical show about growing up Palestinian in London.
PalesTEENian is a solo, semi-autobiographical show about Joe. Joe is a young man growing up Palestinian in South London and the production talks about his identity, coming of age and being Palestine. However, humour is at the heart of this show with great comedic moments. The show continues as Joe navigates being Palestine and eventually embarking on becoming a stand-up comedian. With an interesting autobiographical story, this production is able to captivate audiences attention throughout.
Joe is enthusiastic as he navigates us through his upbringing to more recent years. He had the audience laughing throughout, especially with some of his more frantic moments which worked perfectly for comedy. As someone who is not Palestine, I found it quite intriguing to learn parts of this culture and upbringing. Joe made this easy for everyone to understand, regardless of their ethnicity, which helped the show be accessible for all. Another point worth mentioning is the way Joe switches between accents. This was seemless and allowed us to explore a range of people from his life, making each one different which must have been challenge but Joe excels nevertheless.
PalesTEENian continues to play till Sunday 2nd August. Book your tickets now!
Tickets for this production were provided complimentary. Many thanks to ANRPR for organising the tickets and we wish PalesTeenian all the best!
