As We Lay Dying is a two-day festival at Hoxton Hall. The festival focuses on unfolding life and death across theatre, sound art and performative, immersive experiences. This allows artists to question and evaluate the world they live in. Day 1 of the festival focused on exhibitions, sound-led and immersive presentations to capture the images of life and death. Day 2 starts with a range of film screenings through different art forms, followed by 12 performances that range in genre and storytelling.
We were fortunate to be invited to attend the festival this year, focusing on Day 2. Set at Hoxton Hall, the festival feels immensely atmospheric with passionate artists ready to present their works. Unfortunately we were unable to attend the whole day, missing Black Ash, Seasons, Cosmology in Recognition, The Inverted Realm, Between Pictures & Inja & To Us.S..S… and Revival. We hope these all went smoothly and wish the artists all the best! Our coverage is over the next few pages, we thank each artist for being bold, brave and open to sharing their work. Also a massive shoutout to the technical team who worked tirelessly to get the venue prepared for the performances.
